Hi Ben, beautifully written with some sanguine points - the convenience of plentiful food at the price of pesticides & industrial polluting machines or back-breaking farm work & a dearth of food. The latter good for the planet’s survival, the former to feed a nation. No easy answer.

We got ourselves into a difficult situation it seems. When food (oil) became more abundant, so did the number of human beings. Trouble is, how do we reset the balance, knowing we can’t go on feeding so many people.
As it’s unlikely to be tackled proactively, it’ll take place forcefully over time, unevenly and in pockets, and there will be much hardship and sorrow (and hunger). That’s the future we’re handing down. Until then, have a Mars Bar!
